A Beautiful Day on Mathy Bluff Prairie!

There were 7 of us at the work day on Mathy Bluff Prairie today. Except, from the comments I heard, it didn't really seem like work at all! It was a cool morning with a mild breeze, plenty of sunshine, with time to pause and admire the view while catching up with old friends or getting to know new ones. The prairie was in its last stages of setting seed and the woody plants were easy to see and identify. And in 4 hours many of those woody plants had been cut and treated. This is especially important for this particular prairie because a prescribed burn is planned this fall or winter which would just top kill those woody plants causing them to resprout with multiple stems the following year.

There is still considerable "work" to do on this and other prairies, but today we accomplished a lot! Hats off to a fantastic crew including Holland, Cherie, Jim, Mark, Mike, and Tom!
