Volunteer Work Day at Juniper Prairie
Have you ever looked up at the bluffs south of town when you're at the south side Walmart or stopped at Kwik Trip? If so, you may have noticed a cleared area that recently got a lot bigger. That's Juniper Tract Prairie! Join us there this Friday for a work party.

About
When: Friday, 8/14 from 7:00 am to about 11:00 am, but come and leave at any time. We will begin hiking back down from the prairie at around 10:30 am.
Meet: At the Welch, Juniper Partners & Frank Tracts Trailhead, on Crown Blvd. We will then hike about a half-mile up to Juniper Prairie, a unique remnant of the diverse bluff prairies of the La Crosse Blufflands.
Work: We'll be focusing on doing a second cut of sumac (without herbicide) throughout the prairie. We'll also be pulling any sweet clover we find along the way. If possible, we may do some cutting and treating of brush.
What to Bring: Gloves, sturdy footwear, eye protection, plenty of water, and a snack if needed. We'll have tools for cutting brush and whatever other tools for other work, but feel free to bring your favorite pair of pruners or loppers if you'd like!
Difficulty: Steep areas, but options…
