Volunteer Work Day at Birch Point Prairie

Join us for a morning of brush control work on one of our less established prairie restoration projects in Hixon Forest!

Time & Location

About

Meet: At the Upper Hixon parking lot next to the weather station.

Time: 7:00 am to noon, but, of course, anyone can arrive later and leave before noon.

Work: Cutting sumac (without treating with herbicide), basal bark treating black locust, cutting and treating brush on the flatter top.

Difficulty: The prairie is steep, but there are options to work on flatter sections above.

What to bring: Gloves, eyewear, sturdy footwear, water and a snack. If you have a favorite pair of loppers and hand pruners, bring them.
